Device Compliance Analysis using Microsoft Copilot Analyst Agent
In a world where IT compliance is critical and time is limited, what if you could transform a basic Excel sheet into a fully automated, insight-rich dashboard – without writing a single line of code?
This blog walks you through how we took a raw device compliance report and turned it into a powerful decision-making tool using automation and visualization. From identifying compliance risks to generating executive-ready presentations, every step was handled by an intelligent analyst agent – making complex analysis effortless and actionable.
Let’s explore how data becomes insight, and insight becomes impact.
Adding the Analyst Agent
Adding the Analyst Agent
- Open office.com and sign in with Microsoft Account email and the password.
2. In the left-hand menu, go to the Agents section and click on All agents to open the Agents Store. Then, search for Analyst and add it to your environment.
Use Analyst Agent for Device Compliance Analysis
- Download Device Compliance Sheet
URL – Device Compliance Report
- Upload the downloaded Excel file to the Analyst agent and use the following prompt.
Prompt – “Analyze the attached Excel sheet containing device inventory data. Identify any devices that may pose a compliance risk — such as missing critical fields (e.g., user, OS version, compliance status), outdated software versions, or devices not meeting policy standards. Summarize the key findings, highlight non-compliant devices, and provide actionable recommendations to improve compliance across the fleet.”
3. The Analyst rolls up its sleeves and dives into the data, performing deep reasoning across a fleet of 1,000 devices. The result? A clear snapshot of compliance health, highlighting which devices are secure, which are at risk, and where action is urgently needed. The output reveals compliance status, flags outdated systems, and identifies missing configurations — all backed by data-driven insights. Just like that this report surfaces the digital red flags that IT teams need to act on.
4. Next, use this prompt to generate visual charts and exportable reports based on the insights gathered.
Prompt – “I’d like a detailed analysis of this Excel sheet containing device inventory data. Please identify any devices that may pose a compliance risk, such as those missing critical fields like user, OS version, or compliance status, as well as those running outdated software or not meeting policy standards. I’d also appreciate visual charts showing the distribution of compliance status and OS versions across the fleet. Additionally, please provide downloadable reports including a full export of the analyzed data, a summary table of compliance status counts, and a separate list of non-compliant devices to help guide remediation efforts.”
